#DREAMTEAM: Samantha Leighton, Account Director for JadenLIVE
Sam’s journey to becoming JadenLIVE’s Account Director is a long and illustrious one. Clocking up more than two decades in the industry, Sam boasts a legion of experience with everything touring related – making her the perfect person to head up JadenLIVE.
But we’re getting ahead of ourselves, let’s delve a bit more into the makeup of our rockstar Account Director.
Sam started out in the entertainment industry when she was practically a sprog, kicking off with an admin role for Rock Circuit Promotions back in ‘98 and working her way up through the ranks until she found herself leading the team at Empire Touring.
Name an artist and you can bet that Sam has had a hand in a kickass marketing campaign for them at some point. From KISS to Pavarotti, Sam counts among her most sterling memories the work she did on Cold Chisel’s Nitro Tour.
Sam’s serendipitous story about landing at Jaden Digital begins with her sharing a co-working space with co-founder Joel Cangy way back when and ends with her pioneering JadenLIVE, a one-stop-shop for fully integrated tour marketing campaigns that include TV, radio, print and out-of-home.
You won’t find a person with Sam’s extent of knowledge anywhere else. Warm, personable and always prepared with a solution, Sam’s establishment within the community means that she comes ready installed with a fine network of contacts of people that are primed and prepped to make her vision a reality.
In true #DreamTeam fashion, we asked Samantha to put a playlist together of the top 11 tunes that changed her life, here’s what she gave us…
What’s your biggest claim to fame?
It has to be for me taking George Benson shopping for a new stage jacket in Paddington then having a drink with him at the public bar in the Light Brigade Hotel, a charming human and legend to boot!
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
“We aren’t saving lives here, we are entertaining drunk people.”
If your teenage years were a movie title what would it be?
Dazed and confused.
What fad or trend do you hope will come back?
Shoulder pads, its a more flattering look than most realise.
Where do you look for inspiration?
To all the freaking amazingly smart and energetic people I know – I feel really lucky to have such a diverse bunch of humans around me.
If you could live in any time period what would it be and why?
The 60s for the fashion and music – think Mad Men – high maintenance but absolutely smoking style and the jazz bars. Oh my.
Who would you rather be stuck on a deserted island with – Mark Zuckerberg, Evan Spiegel or Jack Dorsey – and why?
Evan Spiegel, so we could send funny Snaps using “all of the” filters to his wife Miranda Kerr to annoy her.
If you could go back in time knowing what you know now, how far back would you go and why?
Ohhhh, I would go back to just before I became a teenager to realise none of the things I was stressing over mattered at all.
What’s the last song you busted out a groove alone to?
This morning in the car, Bury Me by Brodinski – would have been highly entertaining, I am sure.
For an hour, would you rather visit life 10 years in the past or in the future and why?
The past, so I could hang out with dad and ask him the questions I didn’t before he passed away 2 years ago.
What is your favourite cocktail?
If you could pick up any instrument and play it perfectly which would it be?
Electric guitar for sure. There are too many riffs that I air guitar too which don’t have the same cred.
