#DREAMTEAM: Sam Korotkov, Agency Director
With a glass of organic wine in one hand and slab of Comté cheese in the other, we sat down with Sam Korotkov in his natural habitat last week to learn just how wise Pooh Bear really was, what it’s like to be an Airbnb host and if there is, in fact, any money to be made in cryptocurrencies.
In-between podcast recommendations, Sam also lent us a little insight into his previous work history. Despite still being ID’d when he buys alcohol, Sam’s long list of experience with music marketing reveals his true age. Whilst earning his stripes as a Touring Agent and Promotions Manager for national touring festival We Love Sounds in the mid 2000’s, Sam also created one of the longest standing weekly Sydney club nights, The Wall (@ The World Bar), one of Sydney’s much-loved clubbing nights in Kings Cross. In addition, he helped take Your Shot, the DJ training initiative across the east coast of Australia and had a stint at JUNKEE Media in a Marketing and Events Manager role bringing the Video Junkee festival to life.
Oh…and he also has his own boutique Artist Management company, working with talented, up and coming artists like Kuren.
When he’s not blasting Nicolas Jaar in the office, you’ll find Sam doing one of the six things below:
- Drinking coffee
- Learning Italian
- Hating bananas
- Listening to podcasts
- Recommending podcasts
- Travelling to Japan
Now sit back, relax and have a listen to 11 of Sam’s favourite songs:
Now, over to you Sam.
Joel // What’s your favourite place you’ve never been?
Antarctica. I’ve probably seen Happy Feet one too many times, but who doesn’t wanna get down with the penguins?
Tom // How old were you when you first used the Internet?
I was nine. I’ll never forget the dulcet tones of my sweet modulator-demodulator.
Jake // Devoid of money etc, what’s your choice of brand to be sponsored by and why?
I’d have to choose Lacoste – everyone should check out their latest campaign for some inspiration.
Brian // If you could live in any movie/comic book/novel universe, which one would it be and why?
Star Wars of course, just look at my Midi-chlorian count.
Aidan // If you could live in any time period what would it be and why?
It’d have to be feudal Japan, during the Edo period, to be a samurai of course.
Liam // Would you rather have no elbows or no knees, and why?
No knees. Don’t take my wenis away from me.
Jaxon // When was the last time you put your hands up for Detroit?
Future Music Festival, 2007.
Zanda // What is your favourite cocktail?
Samantha // What was the first live music concert you attended?
Milly // Would you rather be a wizard or a vampire?
Well, that’s an easy one, a wizard of course. You never have to worry that Blade is going to f you up and who doesn’t want a giant bearded man with a pet Hippogriff to tell you your true calling in life?
