Facebook has internally developed “Messenger Broadcast,” a self-serve mass-messaging interface that lets businesses send marketing messages to users. While some may argue it’s just a ploy to add an additional advertising option to the already-saturated space, it appears that businesses design a welcome message, message title and subtitle, and include a call to action to the user such as visiting the business’ website, prompting a Messenger bot or tapping to send a preset reply written by the business.

Instagram has tweaked a couple of its direct messaging features to make them a bit more flexible and interactive. You can now automatically capture and “remix” photos sent to you in replies back to friends, and allow photo and video replays to be replayed more than once. As an added bonus, Instagram now lets you choose to allow replays on photo messages sent to friends, instead of having them expire permanently once viewed.
